Keep Calm and Teach Your Child to Be Patient

keep-calm-and-teach-your-child-to-be-patient

Patience is indeed the greatest virtue. Being patient is the greatest character that will lead us anywhere. However, patience can be hard to maintain. Teaching patience to a child at a very young age is significant. It will speak a lot to their character, and they will make use of it in the future.

As child care in Riverdale, New York, we believe how a patient child can make a difference. We cannot avoid encountering children with anger and tantrum issues. We always encourage teaching patience to toddlers. However, this learning and character should start and be developed at home.

A child’s mind is like a sponge. It absorbs immediately- what they observe, hears, and learns. Here are some tips for you on how to develop patience in your child. Introduce this virtue by:

  • Reading books and singing songs about waiting and patience. This will be fun, learning and enjoying a song while practicing being patient.
  • Practice at home timed moments of waiting.
  • Acknowledge and praise their acts that show patience.
  • Teach them to stay calm and model deep breathes when they want something. Everything they want cannot happen right away.
  • Validate and normalize that waiting and being patient always is hard work.

Renanim Preschool and Summer Camp is a preschool in Manhattan, New York. We do not only encourage children to be patient, but we also practice immense patience in our classroom. We must put into action what we teach and what they learn.
