3 Fun Activities You Can Do in Class with Your Preschoolers

Children are very eager to learn as many things as they can. Even our toddlers begin to nibble on things or touch anything that they find novel because they are curious. Such curiosity will heighten as they start pre-school education. As one of the growing Preschools in Manhattan, New York, Renanim Preschool and Summer Camp aims to provide a child-friendly learning system that will cater the needs of the kids’ age two to five years old.

Our preschool does not only focus on academic learning. We want to hone all areas of learning including the intellectual, spiritual, and social aspects of the child. In this manner, we prepare them for real life and not just limit them to classroom learning. We teach these things in ways that our kids can relate to. It may come in the form of games and other fun ways of learning.

To give you some ideas, here are three activities that we do in class to promote child-friendly learning:

  • Arts and Crafts
Perhaps this is the most common child-centered activity among preschools. The kids are allowed to scribble anything or draw shapes and other figures that they want and color it to their liking. This simple activity triggers the imagination of the kids and at the same time, it slowly develops their cognitive skills because they constantly find ways to improve their drawing. This activity will also let them try to mix and match colors.
  • Performing Arts
Do you ever wonder why your kids are always excited to go to school, especially the preschoolers? It is not just because they get to see their classmates again or they have this feeling of independence where they are left with just a little monitoring. Sometimes, they are excited because they are looking forward to the activities that they will do in class.

Activities that include the singing of the alphabet and learning how to count through singing are one way of retaining such knowledge and they will be interested to know more. Teaching them shapes, alphabet, and numbers through a song will not just develop their memory, it could also unlock their talents in singing or dancing.

Preschool education involves all sorts of learning from academics to skills and talents. The children are taught of the necessary things they need to know that is appropriate to their age.

  • Teaching them how to eat and be responsible for their things
Apart from writing, singing, and dancing, the kids are also taught on how to hold their utensils properly and the proper way to chew their food. This is also part of our preschool training at Renanim Preschool and Summer Camp, a Preschool in Manhattan, New York. We want our kids to not just be book smart but street smart as well.

Moreover, we also teach our kids on how to dispose of their waste. They will learn how to throw their garbage in the trash can and they will also learn how to clean up after using the toilet. This is one way of teaching them independence especially when they already know how to clean up their waste.

Indeed, preschool learning is fun and filled with learning without our children being stressed about it. Basically, what we are teaching is just the essentials which will, later on, be improved as they grow older. But what makes us keep going at Renanim Preschool and Summer Camp, a trusted Preschool in Manhattan, New York, is when we see our kids being able to do things on their own eventually without needing too much assistance.
